Car ferries run between Oban & Craignure (the main route), Lochaline (on Morvern) & Fishnish, and Kilchoan (on Ardnamurchan) & Tobermory. All of these ferries are run by Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac). If you plan to use the Lochaline or Kilchoan ferries, be aware that you will normally wish to use the Corran-Ardgour ferry in order to cross onto the Morvern/Ardnamurchan peninsula - see www.lochabertransport.co.uk.
Early booking is advised if using the Oban ferry, and be aware that you must arrive at the ferry terminal at least 30 minutes before sailing time. A late ferry runs from Oban all year round on Fridays (9.30pm in winter, and 10.30pm in summer). The ferries from Lochaline and Kilchoan do not have a booking system, except that, for the last ferry in the day, you will normally be required to notify CalMac in advance (normally by 1600 on the day of travel) if you plan to use that ferry. Full details of all ferries can be found at www.calmac.co.uk.
